Where to begin answering the question - who am I?
My journey into wildlife and conservation began in 2017 as I transferred into the Wildlife Ecology & Management major at Auburn University. There was always a calling to nature, but what I did not know was that there were opportunities to meet that calling. I did not grow up with an “outdoorsy” family who hunted or fished. As a student, I had a natural curiosity of the world around me and always wanted to know more. This curiosity led me to complete a Bachelor’s degree at Auburn University in the, at the time, School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences. This degree allowed me to explore the world of wildlife biology while gaining practical hands-on experience. I transitioned into the role of graduate research assistant at Auburn pursuing my Master of Science in Forestry. Through my master’s curriculum and research, I developed a passion for promoting education of our natural resources and working with students. The school was renamed the College of Forestry, Wildlife, and Environment, and I had achieved a goal I never had imagined for myself, my Master’s degree.
What do I do now?
I was able to combine my love for the outdoors with connecting the community to a larger mission. Now employed with Ducks Unlimited, I work with elementary to college aged students promoting conservation and environmental education through our youth programs. The ability to connect passionate students to the conservation community has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my professional career. I am proud to work for a non-profit that places prominence on appreciating and protecting our natural resources, while focusing on the future of wetlands and waterfowl conservation.

I started Conservation Babe to continue my work on connecting students to opportunity. Building community is important to one’s success. The brand gives me a chance to share insight into this field, but to also act as a creative outlet. My sense of self is deeply engrained with nature and wildlife. After meeting with many students and professionals throughout my career, I wanted a place to establish community. For students. For women. For my younger self. For future generations.
